Here Comes Summer!

by Brandi Herrman-Rose, Residential Life

With final exams and move-out taking place during the same week, parents and students alike should prepare for busy times May 10 - 15.

All residence halls will close at 8 p.m. on May 15. This means that students will have to move all their belongings out of their rooms, clean their rooms thoroughly, and check out of their room following Residential Life's standard procedures.

Checking Out
It's important for students to complete paperwork and check out at the main desk for their hall. One of the key things that will be important for students will be to set up an appointment with the main desk for a check-out time. When they check out, a student staff member will go with them to their room to finish the Room Inventory and Condition Check (RICC) form. The RICC form is the same form that was completed when each resident checked into the hall.

Staying after 8 p.m. on May 15
Although the residence halls close at 8 p.m. on May 15, Residential Life does recognize that there are students who may have legitimate reasons to remain in the hall after their contract expires. Students who have a need to remain in the hall after closing should talk with their Hall Coordinator. Typical reasons to stay late include graduation, evening exams on May 15, long-distance travel (i.e. to/from out of state), and moving to interim housing. The Hall Coordinator will approve individuals to stay late on a case by case basis. Typically, the student should contact their Hall Coordinator by Tuesday, May 12 to request to stay past May 15. If the request is not made, residents will not be able to access the halls. No student can remain in the hall past 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 17.
